Welcome to HomeGrown HipHop Review - analyzing and exposing you to the best (and worst) of the underground HipHop scene. This is not a sponsored blog; which means we do this for the love of the music and no other reason. It also means we keep it 100% real. We break down the music from a fans prospective because that's what we are - fans. We don't hype up garbage and we don't trash talk real lyricists. Feel free to leave your comments and opinions on the reviews that like or agree with; as well as the ones you don't. Also if you want your music reviewed be sure to check out the FAQ for more info.

Q: I'm a fan with an opinion too! Can I write reviews for HomeGrown HipHop?
A: Possibly. If you can agree to stick to our review format and keep your opinions unbiased.  If so then write one up and send your submission request to homegrownhiphopreview@gmail.com. Please include a picture of the album cover or artist if available as well as the 3 tracks that in your opinion are the strongest (they don't have to be first and last). We'll read, we'll listen, and we'll respond to EVERY submission request (typically within 3 days) If we like it we'll post it!

Q: Why do you only critique the first and last song of each album?
A: It's a known fact that many A&R reps will only give an album about 30 seconds to grab their attention. Because of this, most artists put one of their strongest and more upbeat songs first. In contrast the closing track is usually slower tempo yet equally strong in content. A lot of times it's one of the deepest tracks on the album. It's because of these two things that we only critique the first and last songs. Besides, let's be honest. With today's trend of loading a CD up with 80 minutes of music just because it will fit you end up with a LOT of filler; and filler is NEVER placed first, nor last.

Q: What's That Music I hear playing on your page?
A: We pick 2 or 3 of our favorite songs from EVERY album that gets reviewed and put them in our HomeGrown Joints section for your listening pleasure!
